PRETZEL LOGIC

Sitting here at work having my first cup of tea, and listening to Pretzel Logic by Steely Dan. Reminds me that when it first came out, I didn't buy the album, because I didn't like the single, 'Rikki Don't Lose That Number'. I remember telling Phyl that "It just doesn't sound like Steely Dan", meaning of course that it didn't sound like Can't Buy A Thrill & Countdown To Ecstasy which are still my two favorite Steely Dan albums. But I bought the album for Phyl and after listening to it enough times finally came to like it...but I'm still not a big fan of "Rikki..."

And they almost never toured back then, so never got a chance to see them. But I did find a copy of Metal Leg, the live bootleg from a couple of `70s shows they did; which is much better than the Alive In America album they put out.

So if you haven't listened to any Steely Dan at all, go out and get yourself the first two albums...

...mellow out...groovy, man...it's all psychedelic here...

RIP: ADSENSE

Well, the big experiment is over. After 9 months of Adsense and $10.20 in earnings I finally realized it would take 88.5 months to make the minimum payout amount. Not worth it, I guess, though the extra money would have been nice.
So I guess I'll have to find something else, one never knows what's out there somewhere.
So, live and learn...not live and earn!

ROADS

Have you noticed that wherever you go there's always roadwork going on? Now some of it, such as repaving, may be necessary, but much of it sure doesn't look necessary. The question is...since local, county, state & federal governments all claim they don't have enough money for necessities (police, fire , teachers, etc.), where is all the money for all the roadwork coming from??
Can't much of it be put to better use in times like these...?

BUSY, BUSY, BUSY

Hey, where's the time gone...beats the crap outta me! So many things to post, and no time to do it. Been busy lately putting CDs & books up for sale on Amazon; some books I've had since I was a teenager, back in prehistoric times. But what the hey, if I don't sell 'em off for decent money in the retirement fund, then the kids'll sell 'em for 0.25 each at a yard sale when I'm gone. And Phyl would just throw 'em out. But I'll get back to the posting soon...have I got a spotted dick story for you...hahaha...
And you may know what it is, but if you don't it'll give you something to think about...

WAKE UP AMERICA - BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE

* If you grow up in Hawaii, raised by your grandparents, you're "exotic, different."

* Grow up in Alaska, eating mooseburgers, you're the quintessential American story.

* If your name is Barack you're a radical, unpatriotic Muslim.

* Name your kids Willow, Trig and Track, you're a maverick.

* Graduate from Harvard law School and you are unstable.

* Attend 5 different small colleges before graduating, you're well grounded.* If you spend 3 years as a brilliant community organizer, become the first black President of the Harvard Law Review, create a voter registration drive that registers 150,000 new voters, spend 12 years as a Constitutional Law professor, spend 8 years as a State Senator representing a district with over 750,000 people, become chairman of the state Senate's Health and Human Services committee, spend 4 years in the United States Senate representing a state of 13 million people while sponsoring 131 bills and serving on the Foreign Affairs, Environment and Public Works and Veteran's Affairs committees, you don't have any real leadership experience.

* If your total resume is: local weather girl, 4 years on the city council and 6 years as the mayor of a town with less than 7,000 people, 20 months as the governor of a state with only 650,000 people, then you're qualified to become the country's second highest ranking executive.

* If you have been married to the same woman for 19 years while raising 2 beautiful daughters, all within Protestant churches, you're not a real Christian.

* If you cheated on your first wife with a rich heiress, and left your disfigured wife and married the heiress the next month, you're a Christian.

* If you teach responsible, age appropriate sex education, including the proper use of birth control, you are eroding the fiber of society.

* If , while governor, you staunchly advocate abstinence only, with no other option in sex education in your state's school system while your unwed 17-year-old daughter ends up pregnant , you're very responsible.

* If your wife is a Harvard graduate lawyer who gave up a position in a prestigious law firm to work for the betterment of her inner city community, then gave that up to raise a family, your family's values don't represent America's.

* If your husband is nicknamed "First Dude," with at least one DWI conviction and no college education, who didn't register to vote until age 25 and once was a member of a group that advocated the secession of Alaska from the USA, your family is extremely admirable.

And finally - how come this Palin character is not allowing ANY reporters into her first meetings with world leaders?
Oh yes just what we need another Dick Cheney.
America! Get a clue.
(With thanks to Mike - you know who you are.)

RIP: JOE ORR

You probably don't know him, I actually don't know him either. But I know his band, Bounty Hunter from Lakeland Florida. They're a great Southern Rock cover band who've played all over & opened for bands such as Lynyrd Skynyrd & Alice Cooper (who I saw them open for).
Once again, dying too young(52) & depriving us of any more of his fine guitar playing.
Rock on Joe, rock on...
