CODEINE

The coughers drug of choice! Once again, I seem to have come down with my annual October cough; not quite as bad this year, last year it developed into a bronchial infection. So got my prescription for cough syrup with codeine, mighty fine stuff!
You know, they used to put codeine in cough syrup when I was a kid, the original Vicks Formula 44 used to have codeine in it; I remember sneaking down to my parents bathroom every so often just to get a sip of it because it tasted good. But then they took it out and replaced it with something that was "as effective as codeine, but non-narcotic"...yeah, what a crock that is. Nothing works as well for a cough as codeine, hence the fact you can still get it by prescription.
So when you get a bad cough, make sure you see your doctor (mine's quite pretty) and insist on codeine for your cough...

SWINE...FLEW?

So I saw in the paper the other day that there was the first confirmed case of swine flu found in a pig...thought that rather odd, seeing as what it's called. However, the ironic twist is that they think the pig caught it from a human...hahaha...wouldn't that make it people flu?
Anyway, being a fan of CSI:Miami, couldn't resist the cartoon below...

666..THE NUMBER OF THE BEER

Coney Island Freaktoberfest; 6 hops, 6 malts, 6.66% alcohol, and blood red to boot. Oh, and not bad tasting either. Found this one in World Market in Orlando last week, and couldn't resist; what a perfect beer for Halloween (but couldn't wait that long!) And, coincidentally, it is beer #666 on the famous list o' beer that I keep.
So happy Halloween to all, and find yourself a bottle (or 2).

GOSH, I KNOW I'LL MISS THEM...

A-ha to break up after 25 years

Pop group A-ha have announced they are to call it a day,

A-ha

just months after achieving a top 10 album in the UK.

The band formed in 1982, and scored their first hit three years later.

And now they're gone forever...or until the next reunion tour!!

MARK YOUR CALENDARS!!

What ever you do . . . don't miss this day! (scroll down for the full details and start working on your list now)

Slap Your Co-Worker Day is coming . . . Friday, October 23rd!

October 23rd is the official Slap Your Irritating Co-workers Holiday: Do you have a co-worker who talks nonstop about nothing, working your last nerve with tedious and boring details that you don't care about? Do you have a co-worker who ALWAYS screws up stuff creating MORE work for you? Do you have a co-worker who kisses so much booty; you can look in their mouth and see what your boss had for lunch? Do you have a co-worker who is SOOO obnoxious, when he/she enters a room, everyone else clears it? Well, on behalf of Ike Turner, I am so very very glad to officially announce SLAP YOUR IRRITATING CO-WORKER DAY! Here are the rules you must follow:

*
You can only slap one person per hour - no more.
*
You can slap the same person again if they irritate you again in the same day.
*
You are allowed to hold someone down as other co-workers take their turns slapping the irritant.
*
No weapons are allowed...other than going upside somebody's head with a stapler or a hole-puncher.
*
If questioned by a supervisor [or police, if the supervisor is the irritant], you are allowed to LIE, LIE, LIE !

Now, study the rules, break out your list of folks that you want to slap the living day lights out of and get to slapping on October 23rd.....
and have a great slapping day!

RIP: DICKIE PETERSON

F
ront man and bassist Dickie Peterson of pioneering metallers Blue Cheer was found dead Monday morning in Germany. He was 61 years old and had reportedly been battling cancer for the past year.
Peterson and Blue Cheer will forever be known for their 1968 debut LP Vincebus Eruptum, which includes a massive and jarring cover of Eddie Cochran's rockabilly single "Summertime Blues."
Throughout his five decades with the band, Peterson remained humble when it came to his band's legacy. He was once quoted as saying, "People keep trying to say that we're heavy metal or grunge or punk, or we're this or that. The reality is, we're just a power trio, and we play ultra blues, and it's rock and roll. It's really simple what we do.
Never saw them live, but do own a killer Japanese CD of a show they did there in the 90s. Great stuff, a musical pioneer to be missed.
 Rock on Dickie, rock on...

HELL, I COULD HAVE TOLD YOU THAT!

Not Drinking Leads To Depression
It will be interesting to see
how the neo-prohibitionists spin this one. An article in Time magazine, entitled Why Nondrinkers May Be More Depressed, by John Cloud, details the findings of a recent study that suggests "those who never drink are at significantly higher risk for not only depression but also anxiety disorders..."

SAY WHAT?

From the Ledger:" O'Brien said AAA is urging passage of proposed House Bill 41...wants to make texting-and-driving a non-moving traffic offense..."
Now, don't get me wrong, I'm certainly against texting & driving (actually any cell phone usage in cars), but how can it be a non-moving violation if it's texting and driving? Doesn't the driving part make it a moving violation by definition??
What's next; assault & battery as a non-violent crime...?

HAPPY HALLOWEEN SEASON

And it certainly is at my son Corey's, house; a month long celebration of 'ghoulies & ghosties & long-leggety beasties'.
And as you can see, grandson Ryley does his part!
