MARK YOUR CALENDARS!!

What ever you do . . . don't miss this day! (scroll down for the full details and start working on your list now)

Slap Your Co-Worker Day is coming . . . Friday, October 23rd!

October 23rd is the official Slap Your Irritating Co-workers Holiday: Do you have a co-worker who talks nonstop about nothing, working your last nerve with tedious and boring details that you don't care about? Do you have a co-worker who ALWAYS screws up stuff creating MORE work for you? Do you have a co-worker who kisses so much booty; you can look in their mouth and see what your boss had for lunch? Do you have a co-worker who is SOOO obnoxious, when he/she enters a room, everyone else clears it? Well, on behalf of Ike Turner, I am so very very glad to officially announce SLAP YOUR IRRITATING CO-WORKER DAY! Here are the rules you must follow:

*
You can only slap one person per hour - no more.
*
You can slap the same person again if they irritate you again in the same day.
*
You are allowed to hold someone down as other co-workers take their turns slapping the irritant.
*
No weapons are allowed...other than going upside somebody's head with a stapler or a hole-puncher.
*
If questioned by a supervisor [or police, if the supervisor is the irritant], you are allowed to LIE, LIE, LIE !

Now, study the rules, break out your list of folks that you want to slap the living day lights out of and get to slapping on October 23rd.....
and have a great slapping day!

RIP: DICKIE PETERSON

F
ront man and bassist Dickie Peterson of pioneering metallers Blue Cheer was found dead Monday morning in Germany. He was 61 years old and had reportedly been battling cancer for the past year.
Peterson and Blue Cheer will forever be known for their 1968 debut LP Vincebus Eruptum, which includes a massive and jarring cover of Eddie Cochran's rockabilly single "Summertime Blues."
Throughout his five decades with the band, Peterson remained humble when it came to his band's legacy. He was once quoted as saying, "People keep trying to say that we're heavy metal or grunge or punk, or we're this or that. The reality is, we're just a power trio, and we play ultra blues, and it's rock and roll. It's really simple what we do.
Never saw them live, but do own a killer Japanese CD of a show they did there in the 90s. Great stuff, a musical pioneer to be missed.
 Rock on Dickie, rock on...

HELL, I COULD HAVE TOLD YOU THAT!

Not Drinking Leads To Depression
It will be interesting to see
how the neo-prohibitionists spin this one. An article in Time magazine, entitled Why Nondrinkers May Be More Depressed, by John Cloud, details the findings of a recent study that suggests "those who never drink are at significantly higher risk for not only depression but also anxiety disorders..."

SAY WHAT?

From the Ledger:" O'Brien said AAA is urging passage of proposed House Bill 41...wants to make texting-and-driving a non-moving traffic offense..."
Now, don't get me wrong, I'm certainly against texting & driving (actually any cell phone usage in cars), but how can it be a non-moving violation if it's texting and driving? Doesn't the driving part make it a moving violation by definition??
What's next; assault & battery as a non-violent crime...?

HAPPY HALLOWEEN SEASON

And it certainly is at my son Corey's, house; a month long celebration of 'ghoulies & ghosties & long-leggety beasties'.
And as you can see, grandson Ryley does his part!

WHAT LIZARDS DO WHEN THEY'RE HORNY

Really, saw these two going at it on the sidewalk near my daughter's apartment. But they're not real energetic about it, kinda mellow, actually. Funny thing is, we have lizards on our back porch(keeps down the insects), and I've never seen them going at it!! (Though babies show up every so often)
Go figure...

HAND SANITIZER

The way I see it, hand sanitizer can only help Swine Flu. Reading the bottle it says "Kills 99.99% of germs."
Well, that's nice, but what about the other .01%? That's probably the stuff that kills you, since it's strong enough to survive hand sanitizer. So, the more hand sanitizer you use, the stronger the killer germs get.
Remember, every time you wash, the bad guys win...

QUEUE MY ASS

Stupid computer at work, seems every time I run a report, it takes next to forever before it actually prints. Apparently, it's waiting for it's turn in the queue. Dumbest thing I ever heard of, almost 30 years of business computers I've never had to wait for reports to run in a queue!
So I've decided to call it the 'Fuc-queue', now and forever after(f-queue in mixed company...)

RIP: MARY TRAVERS

Mary Travers of the popular folk trio Peter, Paul, and Mary died after a years-long battle with leukemia. She was 62. In the early '60s, Travers joined Peter Yarrow and Paul Stookey to make music that mixed acoustic guitars with liberal politics. The band recorded several Top 10 albums, and scored a No. 1 hit with "Leaving on a Jet Plane." Of course, everyone's real favorite was "Puff the Magic Dragon" - was it a drug song?...no, not really, but yes, if you wanted it to be. But a great kiddie song anyway.
So goes another icon from the past, singing harmony vocals for the band in the sky...
