RIP: HMS BOUNTY

1962 - 2012: The famous replica of Captain Bligh'e ship, built in Nova Scotia and used for the remake of Mutiny On the Bounty in 1962, and also POTC: Dead Man's Chest. Caught by Hurricane Sandy of the coast of North Carolina. 14 crewmembers were saved, the captain and one other drowned after the ship sank 2 hours after they abandoned ship and were rescued by the Coast Guard.  When we first moved to Florida, the Bounty was docked at the St. Pete Pier, but we didn't get a chance to see her. The voyage she was making was from CT back to St Pete.

I'VE GOT MY EYE ON YOU!

Someone actually found this giant eyeball on a beach here in Florida! Pretty gross, eh?
Turns out they're pretty sure it's from a swordfish, not a
fifty foot mermaid!

IT'S GREAT TO BE AMERICAN

Beer drinkers of America, rest easy.

Out of 150 countries studied, it takes the least amount of time to earn a beer in the United States, according to analysts at Swiss bank UBS.

They determined it takes Americans just five minutes on the job to earn a beer.

That equals 96 beers over an eight-hour workday -- or 480 beers over a 40-hour workweek.

The analysis looked at median hourly wages and average beer prices at retail outlets like grocery stores or liquor stores -- not prices at bars.

On average, it takes a typical worker of the world 20 minutes to earn a beer.

YOU SAY THAT LIKE IT'S A BAD THING

I realize [Tampa] is a young city, and I

understand that

attempts are being made to get people to

move downtown,”

convention the lack

of shade, the endless parking lots, and the

lack of people

made it seem all too often like the set for

RIP: R.B.GREAVES

1943 - 9/27/12: Singer who's big hit was the 1969 "Take A Letter Maria" (Address it to my wife; send a copy to my lawyer, got to start a new life) as best as I can remember; you know, it's surprising how something you haven't heard in 40+ years can come back to you by just hearing the title.
But the interesting part is actually the fact that I was surprised to find out that he was black! And this I found out in the email notification of his death showed up in my inbox, because he sure didn't sound black when he sang, and I don't mean that in a racist way, just you can usually tell black & white singers apart.
So, anyway, sorry to see another bit of my past go...
Rock on RB, rock on...

TRUE THAT!
