FUNNY BEER STORY

So we were at EPCOT a while back, and up in the America section of the World Showcase. Drinking beer, of course, because in the last few years EPCOT has become very beer friendly – as in not just selling A-B products. There’s a nice selection around the countries of one and sometimes more beers from that country, Germany in particular usually has 3 or 4 different, and Canada has 2 or 3 beers handy. Even Morocco has started carrying 4 or 5 beers.
This particular time I had just finished a beer, and was headed to the men’s toilets in the America section when a college age guy and a couple of his friends came down the sidewalk toward me. The one guy, he had a T-shirt that read ‘Keg Security’ so I pointed to him and said somewhat loudly “Hey! Keg security guy!” and the guy dropped his beer, so his friends started laughing at him and I told him he was fired!
(Well, maybe you had to be there…)

BARS & CHURCHES

Two places you can now carry a gun in the state of Georgia. Good job, there's nothing more satisfying that getting into an argument and pulling out your Tec-9 and shooting the bastard. And it's cleaner than a barfight. Well, except for blood on the floor, but that's why God made sawdust!
And in church, too. That's enough of that turn the other cheek and love thy neighbor crap. I sez draw fast and may the faster man win. Why it's just like Call Of Duty but funner...yee-haw!

SYNCHRONICITY(NOT THE SONG)

So I was browsing through Wikipedia today, something I like to do every once in a while. For some reason I read the entry on the 1964-65 New York World’s Fair, which I had been to a few times when I was 11 and 12.
A bit later, I was checking my BookBub email (they let you know about free & cheap books for your Kindle and I suppose Nook). Lo and behold, they had a listing for a 99 cent special e-book all about the World’s Fair! What
synchronicity…so of course I bought it!
Strange how things like that happen every once in a while…(cue: Twilight Zone theme…doo-doo-doo-doo…)

WELL, DUH

“They walked right in on camera. They’re playing the odds and they’re getting arrested. But if you can’t fix stupid, we can arrest stupid,”(Polk County,FL Sheriff)Judd said.
The sheriff said the operation zeroed in on more than 40 people, with some stealing things worth next to nothing.
“We saw the smallest retail theft was a $1.50 for some Pringles. And when asked why in the world you'd steal Pringles, his response was well I’d been smoking marijuana and I had the munchies,” Judd said.

DID YOU KNOW?

According to a study by Caltech & UCLA there is one nerve cell in the human brain that reacts to pictures of Jennifer Aniston, and only Jennifer Aniston. There is another one that responds to pictures of Halle Berry - even in her Catwoman mask!
Isn't that just crazy; just think, millions of nerve cells and each one responding to just one person...

(from Feb.2014 National Geographic)

(those 2 neurons are working overtime now, aren't they?

BEER# 1122

San Miguel Cerveza Negra: A nice tasty dark lager (more like an amber) with rich caramel tones made from roasted pilsen malt.
This showed up in a 9 pack (they used to be 10 packs) of mixed bottles from World Market that my daughter bought me for my 40th anniversary. Interestingly, this beer from the Philippines is from the same brewery that brewed the first beer on my beer list.(Not really sure, but I know when we lived in Wilton after coming back from the Philippines my Dad used to get a case every Xmas from someone he worked with over there & he always let me try things like that - so legend makes it beer#1).

Really enjoyed the Cerveza Negra, hopefully I’ll be able to find a 6-pack somewhere so I can drink 5 more and share 1 with my beer buddy Jim.
Hey, that’s what friends are for!

THE POE SHADOW

By Matthew Pearl:
‘…often a reader will read a magazine critic’s notice of a book, after having already read the book himself, eager to compare perspectives, and think, “This cannot be the book I read! There must be another version. in which everything has changed, and I shall have to find it, too!”’

DID YOU EVER NOTICE?

When your parents told you that “I’m telling you for the last time…”,
it rarely was…

Back in the spanking days they always told you that ”This will hurt me more than it will you”,
but it never did…

But if they told you “You’ll always be my little boy (or girl)”,
you pretty much were…

(It’s been 4 years today…still miss you Mom)

RIP: KATE O'MARA

1939 – 3/30/2014: An actress more famous in England than here, though she was in Dynasty with Joan Collins during the 1986 season. But to me, she’ll always be the gorgeous actress from the Hammer films The Vampire Lovers and The Horror of Frankenstein.Even though she’s gone, she will live forever (for me) in those two movies that I watched as a teenager, and re-watched times since.

Interestingly, the monster in the above picture with Kate is Dave Prowse who I got to meet back in the early 90s and was the actor who actually acted Darth Vader in the original 3 Star Wars movies!
