RIP: FARRAH FAWCETT

Dead of cancer at 62. At one time, she was arguably the sexiest woman alive. Who didn't at one time have that famous poster of her in a bathing suit (and you could see her nipples! - pretty risque in the mid-70s) or if we were married, wish we had the poster. Yeah, never was going to be one of the top talented actresses, but definitely was one of the prettiest.
Sorry to see you go Farrah, but we'll catch you on the Charlie's Angels re-runs...

THE GREAT BUCK HOWARD

...Who actually isn't that great, but doesn't realize that he's really a washed up mentalist. But what a great movie, saw it this afternoon at the Polk Theater. If you don't have a small independent movie theater near you, you may not get to see this until it comes out on video. John Malkovich is incredible as the hand-shaking Buck Howard, and Tom Hanks' son Troy is the narrator and Buck's new personal assistant. The neatest part of the movie is all the cameos by famous and no longer famous people - Tom Hanks,George Takei, Tom Arnold, Ricky Jay, Steve Zahn, and even Donnie Most (Ralph Malph on Happy Days!) Plus others too numerous to mention. A great story, with a happy ending, something any fan of John Malkovich needs to see. Or just movie fans in general...
C'mon, get off your ass and track it down...you won't regret it...

RIP: BOB BOGLE

Co-founder of The Ventures, one of the biggest bands of the early sixties. Never sang, but man could they play! Walk Don't Run(twice!), Telstar, Out Of Limits,Hawaii 5-o theme. And finally into the R&RHoF, in 2008, but should have been sooner. I mean, these guys practically invented surf music & influenced a generation of guitar players.
So now gone at the ripe age of 75, to join the band...
Rock on, Bob, rock on...

JUST SO YOU KNOW

For all you gambling Pentacostals out there (and I know there's some)...
Did you know the numbers on the roulette wheel (1-36) add up to 666?
Hmmm...might want to think that over before going to the Indian Casino next time...

HEAVY BREATHING?

I woke this morning sleeping on my back; it was early, so it wasn't time to get up yet. As I lay there, I heard heavy breathing in the same room I was in..
Well, it turns out it was...ME!
Because of my tinnitus, my hearing has become very monoraul, and many sounds, voices, etc don't appear to be coming from the direction they are actually emanating from. So apparently I had a breathing noise coming from my nose, but sounding like there was someone to the left of the bed that was breathing. Pretty creepy until I figured it out...hey it was 5 A.M., what do you expect?
But remember, if you hear a noise in your bedroom at 5 A.M. and don't have mono hearing...
you might want to run like hell!

TAG SALE

First off, it sucked, spent 6 hours in the heat and only made $45.00. Yeah, it sucked, won't be doing that again for a long, long while. And while we're on the subject, why don't they call it 'tag sale' everywhere (like we did up north)? Down here in Florida, we call it yard sale, garage sale, carport sale, porch sale, estate sale, etc. Unless it's in a church, or community clubhouse, then it's a rummage sale. I do like rummage sale, though, because I do like to rummage around for stuff (stuff good - me like stuff).
Anyway, the real reason for this post is this. After our yard sales, we go through the leftovers and decide what to keep for next time, and the rest goes to the Salvation Army (NOT Goodwill - they're a ripoff). The odd thing is, however, that they won't take computer printers ("Too hard to sell"), but they will take typewriters (?????). And, they won't let the employees take them if you want to give it to them (unless they sneak it to their car).
Which seems kind of like the dog in the manger;
and if you don't know what that is, shame on you.

TIME FLIES...

PLETHORA OF MUSIC

I went to the record & cd show Sunday in Orlando, much fun, tons of stuff, music, collectables, and the like. Bought a fistful(a BIG fistful)of bootlegs. A 1978 AC/DC show, 3 shows from the Outlaws - 1981,1978,1974, Joe Perry Project from 1983, Quicksilver Messenger Service from 1968, Grand Funk Railroad at Atlanta Pop Festival in 1970, The Doors in Vancouver BC in 1970' 3 shows from Heart - 1986,1980,1976, Steely Dan in 1974, & The Sensational Alex Harvey Band from Dallas(never seen these guys on bootleg before).
So hours of listening pleasure, mostly due to Carlotta's CDs in Australia who seems to put out a lot of the boots that I buy.
Also found CDs by Chris Youlden(vocals for Savoy Brown), live Flamin' Groovies, Chris Spedding, Hot Tuna live at the Fillmore, a live set from Tommy James in the 90s(about the time we saw him), Juicy Lucy(new artist for me - what a great name), & Caravan.
Vast quantities of music, and so much more I passed over, don't want to spend TOO much money (Phyllis says"You already did!!"), but there's always next year...

JOLLY?

...or just a motel from a serial slasher movie...you be the judge...

BUSY,BUSY,BUSY

Been so busy, don't know where the time goes...
Did get to the CD & Record show out in Orlando yesterday, and came back with a bag o' boots(mostly). I'll give you a partial list tomorrow, just for fun...
