RIP: JIMMY SAVILE
1926 - Oct.29 2011: Jimmy Savile was an English disc jockey and pioneering television personality who, since the dawn of the 1960s, was a familiar face on such music related television programs as Top Of The Pops.
I remember seeing him in the early 70s, (when I lived in England) crazy white-haired DJ on TOTPs, seemed too old even them, but always had the kind of manic personality that you didn't mind watching anyway.
I guess you'll be introducing the acts up above now Jimmy...rock on...
RIP: BOB BRUNNING
1943 - Oct.18,2011: Bob Brunning was an English musician who, in 1967 was hired by former John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers guitarist Peter Green to play bass in his new blues rock outfit, Fleetwood Mac. While Brunning likely presumed he had a permanent slot in the band, Green actually had his sights set on John McVie who soon replaced him.

NEVER LOOK AWAY
by Linwood Barclay:
"She gave Barry a shove so that he'd roll off his back and onto his side, but it didn't do a damn bit of good. It was like sleeping next to a chainsaw.
She twisted in the earplugs she kept next to the bed for just such emergencies, but they were about as effective as heading out naked in a snowstorm with nothing on but lip balm."
(Says me..."Say what - I don't get it??" My wife says..."See I told you!!")

IT'S ABOUT TIME
BEER FINALLY FLOWS AT ALABAMA OKTOBERFEST
For the first time in Cullman Oktoberfest’s 30-year history, beer flowed at
the week-long Alabama event. In a compromise aimed partly at helping ease the
concerns of townspeople who worried about adding booze to the party, there
was still an alcohol-free side to the celebration. Under a big, open shed,
children did The Chicken Dance and cans of Pepsi sat on mostly empty tables;
the crowd on the dry side was less than half as large as the crowd on the wet
side.

Makes you wonder who decided to call it 'Octoberfest' (pretty well known as a drinking fest) and subtract the beer.
Coulda called it Octoberbust...
