1) Killshot by Elmore Leonard: Wayne & Carmen vs Armand Richie; dead gangster's wife
versus the mob who have to keep her celibate 'til she dies. Another great Leonard page-turner.
2) Garcia by the editors of Rolling Stone: Collectable coffee table book with all the articles written about Jerry & the Dead in R.S. Magazine. A nice commemorative to remember Jerry.
3) I Am Vidocq by Vincent McConnor: Interesting novel centering around the 1800s adventures of Vidocq, first head of the Surete. Turns out he was a real person, go figure. With guest appearances from French author Honore de Balzac, who apparently also wrote about Vidocq.
4) Life Expectancy by Dean Koontz: Really odd book about clowns vs aerialists,Tocks vs Beezos, clowns vs bakers. With 2 surprises you'll probably not see coming. Really enjoyed this one, one of the better Koontz's I've read recently. And, it would probably make a great movie; could actually be done as either a straight comedy(with some minor changes), a comedy-drama(with even less changes), or just as the suspense story that it is.
5) Serpent Catch by Dave Wolverton: On a far-off planet where some of the people and animals are prehistoric and some aren't; a group band together to restock the ocean with serpents that protect the land from creatures that live across the ocean. Interesting planetary concept, a few interesting parts, but it comes down to a quest novel, if you don't care for them, you probably won't like this.
6) Teenage Idol Travelin' Man by Philip Bashe: Interesting bio of Rick Nelson, whether you like his music or not, you'll have to admire the way he attempted to break away from the control of his famous father & make his own way in the world. Damn shame he had to die young, before he was able to fully make music the way he wanted, and not the way others did.
